Come to the Rescue raises Funds

10/30/04--PLYMOUTH PILOT-NEWS--Come to the Rescue Association recently had a chili supper at St. Michaels School. There were six varieties of chili offered. Two varieties were offered by the Plymouth Police Department and by the Plymouth Fire Department in a competition to be judged by Mayor Gary Cook.

Mayor Gary Cook dishes up a bowl of chili for  Jim Baldwin during Come to the Rescue Association fund raiser.

At considerable risk to his political future, Mayor Cook tasted the chili by the police and fire departments. He judged the fire department's chili to be slightly better.

He then sampled each of the other offerings before leaving. Sponsors of the event want to thank every one who came and those who donated. They hope to make this an annual event to raise funds to support children who were orphaned by the scourge of HIV/AIDS in Uganda.

Come to the Rescue Association was founded by Father Muwonge Expedito, a priest from Uganda who served in Plymouth a few years ago.
